Marion County High School

Marion County Public Schools will host a community open house for the renovated Marion County High School Thursday, December 7.

Current school district employees, district retirees, and other former employees are invited to tour the high school starting at 4:00 pm with doors open for the general public from 5:00 - 6:30 pm.

“I know we have had many community members curious about the renovation work happening at MCHS since that project began -- this is their opportunity to see first-hand the school’s transformation,” MCPS Superintendent Chris Brady said. “I’m hopeful that our families and community members will stop by, tour the building, and walk away realizing that this is a school facilities project of which we can all be proud.”

Visitors will get a chance to tour the renovated facility which includes larger classrooms, a new library/media center, reconfigured science classrooms, an added stairway, an addition in the rear of the building and more.

The first hour is reserved for current and former employees of the school district.

“Even if they never worked at MCHS, many of our current and former employees attended high school there, so this is a chance to walk the same halls, but see a dramatically different school building,” Brady said.

The general public is invited to stop by from 5:00 - 6:30 pm.

MCHS will also have on display the school’s collection of past yearbooks and issues of the school’s student newspaper, The Shield.

“We want this to be not just a chance to look at the renovation, but also an opportunity for our alumni to remember their time at MCHS,” Brady said.
