plow design by students

Marion County High School art teacher Kandace Potter was selected to have her students design and paint a snow plow as part of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet's Paint the Plow initiative.

The project is intended to promote safe driving habits during inclement weather.

Potter had her students create designs before voting for their favorite. In total, she received 14 designs. Students then created a digital design of the top vote-getter (image above).

Next, students will paint the design onto an actual snowplow blade which will be used for snow removal. Potter was recognized at the September 14 Board of Education meeting where she also discussed the student-led project.

The design selected by students includes an image of a dragon. Potter explained that the students hope that as the plow pushes snow it will appear to smoke coming from the dragon.

The hand-drawn design finalists appear below.
