Marion County Public Schools will return to full In-Person learning for all students beginning Monday, March 8, MCPS Superintendent Taylora Schlosser announced today.
“We’re very excited to welcome all of our students back into all of our buildings,” Schlosser said. “We knew we’d eventually get to this point, but it’s definitely taken a lot of patience and a tremendous effort from our teachers and staff.”
Students will still have the option of enrolling in full-time Distance-Learning. Students enrolled in Distance-Learning who decide to transition to In-Person learning can do so at scheduled re-entry dates. The next In-Person re-entry date is March 22.
The district will also discontinue the weekly NTI days it utilized while operating on a hybrid schedule.
Preschool students will also return to full In-Person learning with a Monday-Thursday weekly schedule. Preschool teachers will be reaching out to families to discuss details including possible adjustments to transportation.
The week of March 8 still has some irregularities despite the return to full In-Person learning:
Tuesday, March 9: 10th and 12th grade students will have an NTI day as 11th graders take the ACT test
Wednesday, March 10: Kindergarten students will have an NTI day so that elementary schools can complete kindergarten registration for the 2021-22 school year -- this is also the case for March 17
Friday, March 12: There will be no school in the district for a staff development day
The remainder of this week (March 1-5) also has plenty of reminders:
Tuesday, March 2: All students in kindergarten-5th grade will be In-Person; preschool and students in 6th-9th grade will have a Hybrid ‘B’ day; students in 11th and 12th grade with have an NTI day, while 10th grade students take the ACT test in-person at the high school
Wednesday, March 3: All students will have an NTI day; MCPS staff will have its second COVID-19 vaccination day
Thursday, March 4 & Friday, March 5: All students will have an NTI day
